How to Remove Spyware with
Adaware SE 1.06,

Note: Be sure to close all open programs and I would also advise to uninstall Kazaa or other p2p programs before continuing.

What is spyware?

 

Click Run as shown.

Download Ad-Aware SE 1.06 (free). Click here* to get to the download page and click Run button. or "Run from current location" when you see what is pictured to the left.

(Click Run button. once more if prompted by a Security Warning dialog box.)

Click next until...

Once the download is complete, this window will show up. Click Next button. until you see the picture in the next step.

 

Important: If you have a previous version of Ad-Aware installed, you will be given the option of uninstall before setup ends. Choose to uninstall.
Be sure "Update the definition file now" is checked!

At this screen, uncheck all except "Update definition file now" then click Finish button. to complete the installation. Ad-Aware will automatically update, then open itself once the update is complete.

Click the Gear icon. in the upper right hand corner as shown. We will be adjusting Scan Settings. This will give Ad-Aware the best chance to detect as much as possible.
Scan Settings.

Settings Part 1...

Click the Scanning button. button on the left

Change "Scan within archives" from Red X. to Green Check..

All under Memory and Registry are Green Check..
All checked under Logfile...and Alternate Data Streams...

Settings Part 2...

Click the Advanced button. button on the left.

All Green Checkmark. under Logfile Detail Level and Alternate Data Streams.

 
Click the Proceed button at the bottom right.

Now click Proceed button. at the bottom.
Click the Start button on the bottom right.

Click Start button..
Select "Use custom scanning options".

Click Use custom scanning options.,

then click Next button..

This shows Ad-Aware in the middle of a scan. Turn your speakers down for the next step! The scan will take about 5-10 minutes

BZZZZ! Hope you turned down your speakers! A little Blinking exclamation icon. will now flash when the scan is complete.

Next button..
The list of objects Ad-Aware found.

Right click the screen as shown to the left and then click onSelect all objects..

Verify all the items have checkmarks.

 ClickNext button.

This will confirm you want to remove all this resource-wasting, privacy-invading spyware.

If Ad-Aware asks if you want to remove items after a reboot, don't panic (and if you don't, just restart your computer). It is basically giving you the option to have Ad-aware clean your system at the next reboot/restart.
